Answering some questions about the 2016 presidential race in the lead-up to the election, MSNBC host Joy Reid said on Monday that “Trump has been a terrible president.”
“The most obvious thing to understand is that Trump lost the election because of what he said and what he did, not what he represented to the American people,” Reid said.
Trump said during the campaign that he would be “very upset” if the election results were “rigged” against him, and that he hoped his supporters would do the same.
But his supporters were far more likely to vote for Trump, who had a far higher approval rating at this point than any of his rivals.
The former reality television star lost the popular vote by nearly 3 million votes, but won the Electoral College by nearly 2 million votes.
He was the first major-party candidate to win the White House since Ronald Reagan in 1984.
