headline Real Madrid beat Barcelona 2-1 to take the lead at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday night as Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale scored their first goals of the campaign.
After a goal from Bale, Ronaldo headed home from a corner from Yohan Cabaye to put Madrid ahead with just eight minutes left.
Ronaldo then put the hosts ahead with a penalty and Ronaldo made it 3-0 when he converted a penalty after a clumsy challenge from Barcelona goalkeeper Jordi Alba.
It was the first time Ronaldo scored in the Champions League and the 28-year-old was named the player of the tournament for the first of the season.
However, Madrid won the first leg 3-2 in the Nou Camp, before Bale and Cristiano went on to win the second and Ronaldo won the third.
Ronaldinho’s goals were his fifth in six Champions League appearances and he now has eight goals in 11 league games.
Barcelona had to win both legs in order to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
They now face Real Madrid in the final on Wednesday night.
